Overview

Mussoorie, the Queen of the Hills, is one of the most frequented hill stations in India. One can easily spot leisure travellers and honeymooners year around in its captivating landscape. With the grand Himalayas as a backdrop, the 15 km long horseshoe ridge stretch of the colonial hill resort of Mussoorie spreads at a height of 2,005.5 m above sea level. From this vantage point, Mussoorie offers a picturesque view of the peaks of the Himalayas in western Garhwal.

The panoramic view from the West to the East is captured by Bandar Poonch, Srikantha, the Gangotri group and the Chaukhamba. Looking in the south, one can experience a majestic view of the Doon valley and the impressive Himalayas up north. Climbers, trekkers and adventure enthusiasts flock the city all year around. Wooded expanses and winding lanes make for perfect quiet walks in this hilly town.

Attractions

  • Gun Hill

    The second highest peak of Mussoorie, Gun Hill comes in view as one moves from the Mall as the starting point for the cable car towards the summit of Gun Hill. On clear days, the peaks of Kedarnath, Badrinath and Nanda Devi can be seen from this hill clearly.

  • The Mall

    The Mall is the main shopping area in Mussoorie. Connecting the two bazaars, Kulri and Library, the Mall Road is the heart of the town.

  • Mussoorie Lake

    Situated 6 kms short of Mussoorie on the way to Dehradun, the artificial Mussoorie Lake attracts travelers and tourists alike as it offers an enchanting view of Doon valley and nearby villages.

  • Landour

    Situated at an altitude of 2270 m above sea level, Landour is home to the celebrated Indian writer Ruskin Bond and is known to be an Indian style bazaar.
